Te Aturangi is an internationally recognised artist with a strong interest in traditional seafaring.
This has seen him sail extensively on Polynesian voyaging waka throughout the Pacific and international passages on the Endeavour replica.
Of Ngati Porou, Rongowhakaata and Kahungunu tribes, he chairs the Tairāwhiti Voyaging Trust.
He pioneered significant art projects and received numerous art awards.
He is a Winston Churchill Fellow, has a degree in Health Studies and holds a RYA/ MCA commercially endorsed Yachtmaster qualification.
